Prepping

The tipping boulder on a cliff's edge that has stood the test of time will surely be washed over the edge.  For many years, the boulder has felt the rain and sunshine of its neighbors.  The moss has grown on its Northern aspects... the snow has piled on its precipice... trees have grown up and above.. creatures of the forest have strolled past... however, the water has flown steadily across and over it, but most importantly, under it.  As that snow has turned to water and melted down its facades, the water from slopes above has carried momentum and strength towards the boulder's new destination along its perpetual journey.

I find myself looking to the sky, feeling the rain wash over me.  Constantly pushing me towards my new destination.  We all come from our own bedrock, of sorts, and we all are weather the washing of time individually.   For me, I find that not only water, but wind plays a role in my path.  Ebbing and flowing towards and away, but always towards my destiny.  There are the many forces playing a role in my direction.

Today, I found a sense of grounding through looking into the eyes of a man that knew my grandfather.   I barely know Ron, but Ron immediately recalled me as a child.  He expressed a sense of excitement that I commonly recognize in fellows that at one time or another knew my mother's father, Elmer "Moe" Parton.  He was a man that was admired and loved in his short years.  As a young child, I had a sense of appreciation of the abbreviated time That I had with him... and although his life on this earth ended in illness and, ultimately incapacitation, every day his spirit is evident in the community I now again call home.

Another polarizing force in my life has been the recent interest in the services of GB Tree.  Last year I found myself in my first year of business and I was struggling to put together any sort of work... ultimately, relying on a long standing customer's patience to see me through the dead of winter. But, like a sleepy bear, GB Tree emerged in the spring to hungrily devour contract opportunities and meet the increasing demand for quality tree service in the North Pittsburgh area.  In August, I based much of my choice to leave the country on the inadequacy of the winter employment opportunity.  However, I now find myself flush with customers interested in tree trimming and removal.  This strikes me to the core, as it is a tenant of my company's mission to provide prompt service.  However, I never expect such an eager response for my services after just a mere 2 years in business.  I leave with a heavy business obligation to follow through on the work I'd like to accomplish now, but will be required to delay until my return in  March.  I will remain vigilant to maintain this focus throughout my journey.

Garlic has yet to be planted, Turkeys are yet to find their way to the freezer (less feathers and head, of course), saws and vehicles remain to be winterized... and the GB Tree service remains a constant.

Lots to accomplish before November 2.
